In this collaborative research project, we helped Oaklanders culturally define, physically locate and celebrate their neighborhoods through stories and images of West and East Oakland collected and displayed on a trailer-kiosk towed by our tandem bike. WE Riders promotes the values of ecotourism as a platform for exploring and understanding the cultural diversity of Oakland. We partnered with local cycling and pedestrian advocacy groups. This project received funding from Oakland Cultural Arts and culminated in an exhibit at the Pro Arts Gallery, Oakland, CA. You can learn more about the project at www.weridersoakland.blogspot.com

The Temescal Seed Swap is an interactive mobile community installation to encourage the sharing of local flower, vegetable, and plant seeds and conversation about neighborhood gardens. With the seed cart we visit local farmers’ markets, churches and street fairs. The Temescal Seed Swap has been shown at the Headlands Center for the Arts, Marin (2008), New Langton Gallery in collaboration with the OPENrestaurant, SF (2008) and the Berkeley Art Museum (2009).
